Finance Minister Bill Morneau is in St. John's this morning as a guest speaker at a breakfast hosted by the St. John's Board of Trade.
The Minister spoke moments ago at approximately 9:00 a.m at Salons B-C-D of the Holiday Inn St. John's Conference Centre.
Minister Morneau acknowledged the tough financial times in Newfoundland and Labrador, he also added that Minister Judy Foote keeps advocating Newfoundland and Labrador.
Morneau also said that "We worked with the Newfoundland and Labrador government to provide a stabilization payment of $31.7 million directly to the province."
Families in Newfoundland and Labrador will receive $112 million more in child benefits over 2016-17 to 2017-18, beginning this July.
