Mistaken Point Designated UNESCO World Heritage Site


The Mistaken Point Ecological Reserve has been designated a UNESCO world heritage site.

Mistaken Point Ecological Reserve is located at southeastern tip of the Avalon Peninsula. The site was first discovered in 1967.

The area is known for ancient fossils. The site contains one of the most diverse and well-preserved collections of Precambrian fossils known.
