Provinces Moves to Centralize Licenses & Identification #nlpoli
All four Atlantic Provinces have issued a joint request for proposals for centralized issuance of licenses and photo identification.
Under this plan, customers would be issued a receipt at the service counter, which would serve as a temporary license until the permanent card arrives via mail or courier.
The reason is partially to allow new security features that guard against counterfeiting and identity theft and will save taxpayers money.
The Central Issuance of Licenses has been adopted by all Canadian jurisdictions except for Yukon and the Atlantic Provinces.
Those who work at services centers in this province were not informed of the proposed changes. Only Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island have issued press releases on the proposed changes.
