European Fire Ants Sting Corner Brook Resident

Fire ants 01.jpgEuropean fire ants have long caused problems for those who use the Corner Brook Stream Trail.

A woman was stung by the European fire ants.

The City says there is nothing they can do about them.

The first reports of red ants stinging people in Maine occurred from the late 1960s to the mid-1970s, but it was not until 1986 that the species was confirmed.

The creatures are known to be aggressive.
