An area of low pressure moved toward Newfoundland last night and is spreading snow across most of the Island.
Snow started before midnight last night along the south coast.
There is a chance that along the south coast snow may become mixed with rain at times.
The heaviest snow is expected on the Avalon and Burin with further amounts of 10 to 15 cm possible, locally 30 cm may fall.
Along the South Coast winds may gust to 100 km/h at times.
Most schools in central and eastern Newfoundland are closed for the morning or closed all day.
