The Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development Dale Kirby attended the Merchant Navy Memorial Service on Thursday.The ceremony took place at the Merchant Navy Memorial in front of the Marine Institute at 155 Ridge Road in St. John's.
The Merchant Navy played a vital role in the Second World War, transporting desperately needed food, equipment, and personnel to Britain and other Allied countries on non-military vessels.
