Woman Facing Several charges under the Highway Traffic Act #nltraffic

A 32 year old female resident of St John’s is facing charges under the Highway Traffic Act for Operating Without Insurance, Operating an Unregistered Vehicle, Operating without a Valid Drivers Licence, and False Registration Stickers Attached.

RNC Patrol Services conducted a traffic safety stop on LeMarchant Road around 9 am yesterday morning. The female operator was found to have outstanding fines in the amount of more than $7000.

The vehicle was impounded and the driver was held for court.

Gas Prices Going Up Again #nltraffic

Just when you thought Gas prices couldn't get any higher they are.

Gasoline is going up about 1.2 cents a litre.

Heating and stove oils add 1.4 cents a litre while Diesel adds 1 cent.

Armed Robbery in Mount Pearl


RNC responded to an Armed Robbery at a take-out in the Mount Pearl at 7:14 pm last evening.

Police say that a lone male entered store armed with a weapon and demand cash.

The suspect fled scene on foot, with an undisclosed amount of money. Area searched by patrol officers with  assistance from K9 unit, negative results.

The incident is being investigated by Major Crime Unit.

Stormy Weather On The Way #nlwx



An area of low pressure will bring a mixed bag of weather to Newfoundland and Labrador on Wednesday and Thursday.

Precipitation across the Island will begin as snow on Wednesday afternoon before changing over to ice pellets and rain along the west and south coast along with central. On the Avalon we will only likely see rain. No significant precipitation is expected to Newfoundland.

Strong winds are expected once again along the west coast with gusts up to 130 km/h possible.

In Labrador heavy snow is expected with 20 to 30 cm possible in the heaviest snow. Wind will also cause blowing snow and reduced visibility.

Suspect In Burin Peninsula Shooting In Court

A 17-year-old boy accused of attempted murder was in court this morning. The teen along with a 33-year-old man were charged after a 16-year-old victim was shot over the weekend.

The 16-year-old victim remain in hospital and according to his father is showing signs of improvement.

The mother of the accused broke down when her son was led into court this morning.

The case was postponed to this afternoon.
