Myra Bennett was a nurse that came to Newfoundland as a district nurse under the outport nursing scheme.It was her plan to travel to Saskatchewan. However, Lady Harris informed her about a great need for nurses in Newfoundland. So Bennett agreed to remain in Newfoundland.
So began her long career of caring for the sick on the west coast of Newfoundland.
She died on April 26, 1990.
Today the house that she lived in at Daniel's Harbour is a heritage house. The Nurse Myra Bennett Heritage House in on Circular Road in the community.
