Significant resources were immediately deployed to ensure that there was nobody in any danger along with ensuring no environment damage occurred from the vehicle itself. Officials with Environment Canada; divers with Sea Force Diving along with Avalon Towing and the St. John’s Regional Fire Department all responded to the area.

During the investigation, it was discovered that the woman who reported the vehicle stolen, was in fact aware of its location. It was learned that the vehicle had accidentally slipped into the water late Thursday night and was reported as being stolen this morning falsely.
