Around 8:00 pm, Officers received a report that a vehicle had left a local liquor establishment and the Complainant felt the operator was driving while impaired. A patrol of the area was completed and the vehicle was not able to be located.
Based on a plate number given by the Complainant it was determined that the registered owner resided outside the city in RCMP jurisdiction. The information was passed along to the RCMP and the vehicle was located and the driver arrested.
Later yesterday evening around 10:00 pm, Officers received a report of a possible impaired driver. Based on the description of the vehicle and the driver, the vehicle was located a short time later and as a result of the investigation, the driver, a 25 year old male resident of Burnt Islands, NL was charged.
He was released to appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
