They were walking home from a Christmas gathering after midnight on Boxing Day when they were run down by a truck.
Police say the driver was Marilyn Sheppard's brother-in-law Walter Alfred Joyce.
Joyce was attending the same party, he was home from Fort McMurray.
He appeared in court in Corner Brook on Wednesday. He has another appearance scheduled for January 17.
