Premier Ball has confirmed that he has put longtime Liberal organizer Greg Mercer in the role of a senior strategist (stakeholder relations). He also said that Kelvin Parsons will stay on as chief of staff. Parsons is expected to quit at the premier's office this fall.
Mercer will now make $147,680 a year. This figure far surpasses a typical salary for a senior strategist in Canada.
His mandate will be to reform the government's political operations.
Typically a senior strategist plays a pivotal role in the strategy department and leads a team by developing and presenting strategic recommendations.
