#Orlando How Many Lives Will be Lost before America changes Gun Laws?
Every time there is gun violence in the United States it prompts the famous gun debate.
There are two sides to the debate. Both sides won't budge.
There were 372 mass shootings in the US in 2015, killing 475 people and wounding 1,870, according to the Mass Shooting Tracker. This year so far there have been 182 mass shootings in the United States. Their definition of a mass shooting is an incident where four or more people are shot in a single shooting spree. This may include the gunman himself, or police shootings of civilians around the gunman.
Florida is a "shall issue" state, and issues concealed carry licenses to both residents and non-residents. Florida recognizes licenses from any other state which recognizes Florida's license, provided the non-resident individual is a resident of the other state and is at least 21 years old or may be under 21 if the applicant is a member or veteran of the United States Armed Forces.
Florida is considered accommodating to guns, by national standards. There are 56 laws relating to owning, transporting, and using guns. Convicted felons have few rights to gun possession.
The mass shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando on Sunday Morning begs the question, how many lives have to be lost before America changes its policy on guns?
The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution states, "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
The Constitution may be a very important document, however, people's lives are more important.
