Thanksgiving Monday was a very stormy day across Newfoundland.

Some areas received well over 100 millimeters of rain.

The storm also caused some serious concerns, the Burgeo highway was closed after a portion of the road washed out there was also water damage to many basements and the storm is also responsible for causing several power outages.

The heavy rain was the remnants of what was once hurricane Matthew. By the time the storm had reached us it has lost all tropical characteristics.

Marine Atlantic tied by their ferries causing delays.

Rain is tapering off across the island this morning and it should clear to a nice afternoon.
