The Steelworkers Union confirmed the notice of layoffs.
They held an emergency meeting on Wednesday evening.
Recently there was an explosion and fire at the facility.
It is operated by North Atlantic Refining and was owned by Korea National Oil Corporation until 2014, when SilverRange Capital Partners, a New-York Based commodity merchant bank, bought the refinery. SilverRange is now Silverpeak Strategic Partners.
