On Thursday afternoon RNC arrested a 43-year-old male resident of Corner Brook on an outstanding warrant. When the male was being admitted to the Corner Brook Detention Center he assaulted a Correctional Officer.
The Correctional Officer was treated at Western Memorial Regional Hospital for what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
As a result of the investigation, Patrol Services charged a 43-year-old male resident of Corner Brook with Aggravated Assault to a Peace Officer and Breach of Court Order.
He is being held in custody and will appear in Provincial Court later today.
The RNC Patrol Services and Forensic Investigation Services are continuing the investigation into this matter.
